Hawaiian Mandala Sampler - PDF
Whether you’re saying “When you dance, leave your bashfulness at home” (which is A'a i ka hula, waiho ka hilahila i ka hale) or Merry Christmas (the familiar: Mele Kalikimaka) the Hawaiians need only 12 letters to do it. That’s a whole lot of hula packed into 54% less alphabet than the rest of us need. So, this sampler doesn't "say" anything - that's just the Hawaiian alphabet.
These tropical colors spill out into floral mandalas that are reminiscent of the traditional Hawaiian quilts. Unfortunately, the original threads used are no longer being made. The chart has been updated to include a conversion for DMC and for Classic Colorworks hand-dyed threads. If your chart doesn't include this, the info is provided in the second picture.
127 x 201 stitch count.
