This Celtic design uses hand-dyed multicolor floss to create the woven pathways. Each of the spaces between the paths is in full bloom with blackwork flowers.

The original materials (Carrie's Threads and Etamin Fine fabric) are not readily available any more, but the chart has been updated to provide a Weeks Dye Works alternative, as well as a DMC reference. Any evenly woven fabric can be substituted for the Etamin. See the second photo for thread alternatives if your copy of the chart pre-dates the new conversions.
